We have a good natured, funny little beagle for the most part. However, when we are alone, she bites me. She will get in these "moods" where she will basically attack me. Sometimes it is playful, sometimes it doesn't seem to be and it hurts! When "daddy" is around, she's as sweet as pie and wouldn't think of even nipping him.

Is it possible she thinks of me as a plaything? Or is she just testing me? I am with her all day, feed her, take her out to potty the works.

She also hardly listens to me. She will not come when called and does not respond to no. So this is making for a very stressful experience as my fiance (aka the one she listens to) works all day.

Is there any way to get her out of this phase, if it is a phase. We are thinking of obedience training and SOON.

Thanks for all your help

Yes, get into training class with her, and you be the one to work her in class and to practice with her every day. I have articles at the link below my name on puppy class, training class, and Training: What Does Your Dog Need? Also an article on Alpha or Leader? one on Bonding with Your Dog, one on Puppy Biting, and lots more. It's all free and not trying to sell you anything, just an educational site.

I'll echo the "get into a class" statement. Training a dog in obedience- even dogs that are just to be "pet" really is the best way to form a clear communication with them. Make sure the class is a positive reinforcement class and the dogs are happy and the students are happy. A beagle will not respond to being pushed around to get it to do what you want it to do. Make training fun and you will get your mouthy dog under control.
