vampella Apr 25, 2006 05:09 PM

My puppy wafer (12weeks) chases the cats. my cats aren't a big fan of her or any dog for that matter.when she goes after the cats I grab her and tell her no, am I do the right correction or is there something else I should be doing instead that may work better??
Thanks

Hi Char,
Puppies just love to chase anything that moves. I had a cat who enjoyed this and use to hide under the couch and swat the pup with his paw when she poked her head under the couch...no claws though. Not all cats will do this though and you have to be careful that the claw doesn't injure the pup...especially an eye. You can say no, but you might also want to distract the pup
by playing with him until he forgets about the cat.

I have a lot about how to handle this in the article "Cats and Dogs" at the link below my signature.
