training

Has anyone used the PetSmart puppy training classes? We are thinking about doing them, but would like some feedback from those who have used them.

Our other Doberman went to training at 6 months, we thought it may be better to train them earlier. Is this a better way to go or should we wait?

We trained our boy on our own. Just a lot of reading and researching and it's the same kind of info they'll give you in classes.

And with enough treats, they'll do anything with some practice! lol.

Puppies or dogs start learning from you and from the experiences you provide them from the moment they meet you, so it is wisest to shape that learning through good training. The class needs to be a good one. Ask your veterinarian to recommend a good class in your area. The Petsmart classes are only as good as the instructor they happen to have working there. In general, the best instructors will not choose to work there. Neither will the best veterinarians or the best groomers. You are better off dealing with someone who specializes in that service than in dealing with a retail store.
