Adding a third cavalier

mstngo May 13, 2006 02:21 PM

I have two tri clolors. They are sisters with the sames parent but from a different litter. I am thinking about adding a third sister. The other 2 are best friends and get along well with each other and other dogs but I am curious to how they will react to a 3rd sister. Has any one else had a situation of adding a third cavalier? I work from home and I am only gone about 5 hours a day so I will have the time to make the transistion as smooth as possible.

Every dog of the same sex you add will increase the risk of serious fighting. Adding a male to two peaceful females is likely to work fine. I'd be very cautious about adding a third female to any breed.

I agree, you can probably add a male much easier than a female, but you have to realize as well, adding any dog to a two female pack could create conflict. Be careful on the personality of the male you choose and find a great breeder to help you find the right match.
