Anybody got any recommendations on a good brand of prong collar for traing a APBT puppy?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi! www.JeffersPet.com has some really good prong collars. WE use them when training our pups for obedience. Jeffers also have everything else you could possibly need, so definitely check it out.

If you do decide to order form them, please use a promotion code: HaynesPitBulls1

All of the credits we earn are used for donation of supplies for our local shelter in Atlanta, GA. So that would help a lot.

You may want to try other methods of training your pup. I have had great success training with nothing but a regular leather buckle collar. With the bully breeds you need to remember they were bred to react differently to pain than other breeds. If they're doing something (say barking at another dog) and then they get a painful reaction (prong collar), it makes them want to do whatever it is even more (and may turn the barking into true aggression towards the other dog). Please try positive reinforcement, these are very smart animals and trust me it works! I've trained very "wild" pits with nothing but positive reinforcement. Try finding a trainer in your area to help out.

I think I am going to hold off on getting a prong collar. I'm having great success sp far with a choke collar, but I'm not jerking it when he does something wrong, I just snug it and try to refocus him on whatever it is we are doing. He behaves very well for a 14 week old puppy.

Do pure bred pits have all clear nails or can they have clear and black?

Thank you,

Kevin
