Proud of Mushu

Not sure if this is the spot to Share this. But, I'm going to put it here.
Mushu is my 2 1/2 yr old Jcak russell terrier beagle mix. This morning My mother went into an insulin reaction while she was driving home She doesn't remember the last 10 blocks of her drive home. Mushu saw her pull in the Drive and watched her get out of her car. he could obvisouly tell something was wrong. He was jumping at the door and runnign back to me barking, He's always happy to see Grandma but never like that.
I finally got up to see what was up, I could tell my mom was in a low Blood sugar but I had no Idea it was as low as it was. when she got in the house we checked her blood and it was 62 low but not as bad as it could be. Mushu was still acting weird. licking and Barking at my mom, He also wouldn't let any of the other dogs near her. We and I use the word we because if he hadn't been there it could have been bad, got her to eat some sugary stuff. Which only worked because I would tell her that if she ate something Mushu could have some. I know sugar not so good for the dog but it helped keep my mom concious.
When her BS got even lower Mushu Started licking her and even doing small puppy nips to keep her talking to us. took a while for her BS to come back up and Mushu didn't once leave her side. I AM SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!
Now my mom says that When I move out again I cannot take him with they have been thinking of getting another dog that could tell when my mom was low. I'm glad to know that my mom and Mushu have bonded as mom was terrified of him when we first got her he's a little high strung.

Wow! You have every right to be proud of Mushu! I have read about dogs being able to sense when people are not quite right and even be able to detect cancer and such. I'm sure your mother is very thankful to have had Mushu close by as well.

I LOVE to hear stories like this. The animals/human bonds are so wonderful and the way animals sense changes in humans is nothing short of a miracle at times.

He's her little service dog. What a great companion to have!

Wow, Sara I have read about things like this happening and have seen some shows on TV about it. Mushu must be one of these dogs. Mushu has certainly won your mother's heart in more ways than one and you certainly have every reason to be VERY proud of him. Good boy, Mushu!!!!!!
