Breeding weight for male GTP?

baddefense Oct 09, 2003 10:14 PM

I have a pair of GTP's that I plan to breed. I have been trying to find out at what weight these snakes will be ready. So far I have found that females should be at least 1000g. What about males? I cannot seem to find this info. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Most males will become sexually interested or active at 18-24 months old. I think maturity matters more than weight for males. I have a very small male (300+/- grams) that is very sexually active and has courted several females, but is not proven yet. I think the females I paired with him were still a little small. I have 3 more females up to size this year. Now I just have to figure out which males to pair with them. Can you have too many males? lol. Good luck with your pair.

Brandon,

Thank you for the info. I really appreciate your help and info. I am think my snakes are almost sizeable enough to start breeding. Pretty exciting! Thanks again!
