I like it a lot!

I'm a bit scared of it though.. maybe the colors are a bit brighter because you took a picture of it. Any idea if the color changes when it grows older? It's indeed a cool creature - the eyes scare me a bit

From what I have sen they are the most brightly colored as babies and tend to turn a creamy, yellowish white as they grow.

Very cool!

Nice looking turt but I was wondering if he can bask in the sun? Other albino animals are extremely sensitve to sunlight and burn easily because of the absence of melanocytes in the skin - if yours is then he will always have a soft shell will he not?

I'd say your right but I am not a turtle expert. I'm mostly into Boas. So far he has done extremely well indoors using the best UV bulbs I can buy and in the summer he gets actual sunlight just about every day. He is about 1 1/2 years old and hasn't grow a whole lot. He seems healthy as can be and his shell is nice and hard. Joe.

Just a question, is his eyes supposed to be that big ? They seem abnormally big for a turtle of his size. And also, how common are albino RES ? Do they have to be bred specially ?
thanks

I'm not sure about the eye question. They don't always seem like and he seems to be fine. I also don't know all that much about Albinos. I do know I like him and he gets cared for very well. I'm mostly into snakes. Heres another pic of him. Joe.

how much would someone pay for one of the lil turtles? where did you get it from?

Joe K. Oct 14, 2003 06:04 PM

I think they run about $150-$200 but I'm not sure if thats the normal price range or not. I think it depends on the amt. of breedeings and the availability. I paid $100 for mine a year ago.Check the classofieds and you will occasionally see them for sale. I got mine from Turtletown. Joe.
