My cocker spaniel keeps getting persistant ear infections. We clean his ears out, give him antibiotics, and keep his ears groomed. Is there any way to prevent these from happening? Thanks!

Unfortunately probably not. With the way the ears hang down and the quickly growing fur... things can get pretty hot and steamy in a Cockers ears. They would almost require daily attention or at least every couple of days to make sure nothing is going on with them. Here is a link that might be of some help to you....

You are right to ask about persistant ear infections, especially if you are cleaning the ears regularly. Dogs with ears that fold over are more likely to get an ear infection then dogs with prick (stand up) ears but it shouldn't be happening if you are regularly cleaning them.
Ear infections can be due to a food reaction. For example, one of our three dogs can not have beef, if he eats beef he ends up with an ear infection.
Try talking with a long time Cocker breeder or rescue and ask if there are any foods that the breed tends to hve reactions to. That can often be the quickest answer to the cause. You could also try asking his veterinarian.
