rhodesian ridgeback puppy ear deformed

ago131 Jun 21, 2006 08:49 AM

i just got a rhodesian ridgeback puppy. he is really cute and everyone in my family loves him.

i did notice that his left ear folded backwords and is not similar to his right ear. i have never seen this before and am wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on it for me. the pup is 11 weeks old. i am hoping that as he grows the ear will right itself.

First have you checked with your vet. What does the breeder say about this condition?

I personally never had this problem or see it in other RR, but might be a birth defect and fixable surgically, if you are not going to confirmation show.

Are you planning on doing Agility or Lure Coursing?

breader says he will grow out of it. vet says that the cartelage does change with age. this is a pet and not a show dog, so although i am not happy about ear, my family and i will live with it since we have all gotten attached to the dog.

Good for you. Love doesn't always come in a perfect package.

Do you have any pictures you can post?
