You are so right, dogs are individuals and like different things just like people.
I do have one word of caution though, a tennis ball with a slit in it can be VERY dangerous to a dogs. I have had to remove many from the tongue's of dogs and even around their muzzles. Not all are lucky to walk away un touched by pain. I have had to amputate(take off) parts of a dogs tongue because of this. I caution against the use of tennis balls. Pardon andy spelling errors LOL.

>>Individual dogs have individual personalities and experiences with toys- some just don't always know what to do with toys.
>>
>>I'm working on getting my shiba who I adopted as an adult to learn to play with me. To do that, I've cut a slit in a tennis ball and put food inside the ball. Their quick minds and agility make this an interesting game for them and they start to associate the ball with food and fun. I've also used a sock with a hole in it- I've filled that with some really good table scraps. Then we play tug with the sick. My other dog has always had a love of toys and I never had ot do this with her, but that's her. She learned how to play when she was very young.

>>It doens't take long before they learn and there are products they sell that you can hide food in the toys, but I'm cheap and making my own has been as much fun.
