Opinions??

Lucien Oct 09, 2003 11:59 PM

I had my female leopard gecko to the vets not long ago regarding a lump under her jaw. Now the vet said it was a fatty deposit beneath the skin. Its attached to the skin and can be palpated.. but I want to see if anyone's ever seen something like this or not.. She doesn't appear sick.. still eats very well.. Opinions are welcome.

Here's the pic:

My Tropical House geckos have visible fatty deposits in that area (although on both sides), so the vet is likely right.

I have never had a leopard gecko with a fat deposit in that spot. They have always been located in the "armpit" area, but that certainly doesn't mean it is not a fat or calcium deposit. I would think as long as she acts normally in all respects you shouldn't really worry, and just trust your vet on this one.

I'm in the same boat as Kelli... but you are going to want to watch it to make sure that it doesn't "grow". If it ballons up all the sudden it's time to pick up the phone and call the vet again.

Thanks everyone... KelliH.. thats the female I bought from you last year in May.. *L* I was just worried. She's had that since... March now... hasn't changed... grown or shrunk.. so I guess I'll just keep a watch on it now.
