auntie_honey Sep 03, 2006 03:16 AM

Hi all I'm new to this web site! I have found it very use full but I feel that i need to know everthing. I have a dog named Abbby (f) and my sister Lynn has a dog named Chewie (m)(chew-ie)Abby is a mixed breed and chewie is a 100% chihuahua Papers in all. I know for SURE abby is a minature french bull dog, dottison and chihuahua (her mom) and i think she might have a little (bleep)-sue in her.(i sure my spelling is off sorry)Abby is a great dog, pet and family member we have never had any prolbrems with her! We got abby from a friend when she was around 8 weeks old, give or take. My family and friend love abby and really want me to breed her! My hubby and I have thought about it, for a very long time. (over a year) and would love to breed her too! However I have heard that cross-bredding is a no no? *Q1. is it ok to cross bread?* I have talked to my vet and she thinks it would be ok because Abby the bigger one and chewiw is smaller. but she also said that the Abby and the puppys would have small chance of having prolbrems and might have to do a surgery on her to get the puppys out.*Q2 is that true* she also told me it could cost us alot of money! *Q3 How much money* All of my family and friend are great people some have cats some have dogs and some have kids. but they don't have too many and i know they would go to loving homes and would be well taken care of. i have about 6 people for sure that wan't one and 3 more they say they do but i dont know if they REALLY will. * Q4 would Abby have more then 6 pups? she is a very small dog?* ok so lets say we do decide to breed her how do you do it? what should i do? should she be on any kind of food? how long are dogs prego for abby has only been in heat two times is she to young? (2 years)
What are the pro's and Con's of doing this?? what do i need to know befor hand? is it legal? please understand that i do not know alot about dogs zip about breeding.(thats why i am writing this) I have never done this befor so i know nothing! I wan't to make sure that this is ok for my Abby and I wan't to know evething! I will not be sad, mad or pissed if you tell me what you think. I have never let abby be around chiwie and don't plane to tell i know as much as can, and if this is even possibe! I defently don't want to jump the gun, I wan't some one to tell me the TRUTH about what i sould do? I really do want to breed her but i don't want to put my Abby is harms way. she is my only baby besides my 2 year old son. I know i will be up all night is she does not take to feeding and that does not bother me but how do you feed pups if she does not take to feeding?? Also, I know the pound is full of dogs that would make great pets but my family, my hubby and i really do wan't to do this but, I'm lots and need some advice tell me evething you know! sorry if my spelling and grammer sucks my son got ahold of my glasses and i can't find them! one more thing i would put a pic of abby and chewie on here but don't know how to do it.
thanks again from the one who is Lost in Seattle!

Since both dogs are not purebreds, this is not cross breeding, it is mixed breeding. Your dog could die trying to have these pups, and yes it would be expensive. If you want to breed dogs, find a highly knowledgeable breeder to work with. You need help with genetic decisions, with care, and all sorts of other things. The vet simply cannot provide all this.
