Is my dog a Golden Shepherd? Or Mix?

Sweet1plum2000 Sep 12, 2006 06:10 PM

Hi, I posted to mix breed dogs and they suggested I post my dog on this forum. He is 60 pounds adult dog, with the german shepherd light face mask. His body is solid reddish color shorthair. Here is a some photos of him..Rusty. I love this dog so much. He is smart, understands English I am sure of it , and protective when he senses my fear. He also gets along with my cats and loves on them. He likes to retreive so I thought he might have retriever in him. The other board said he might be a Golden Shepherd? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

He's a mix. No doubt about that for me. could be wrong but I would say mix. It doesn't really matter though, what a SWEET looking dog. you are so lucky to have him.

I think he is too. Maybe a mix between a shiba inu and german shepherd? He is smaller then a GS and has the color of the Shiba. I want to find one similar to him and it would help to know what breeds to look for. He is an old dog and the vet said he has already outlived his life span. I can't imagine life without him. He was a stray dog and I found him. He followed me home. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ya shiba Or I think when I look at him...Aussie cattle dog. the face say's that for me. Trust me, you will never find a dog just like him..maybe not in breed either. When you feel it's time for a new dog after *god forbbid* this sweetie passes on go to the shelter and just pick a dog that needs you. They will never be the same but who would want them to be. No one wants to replace the baby they've lost just find another baby to love and take care of. Does that make scence?

I know what you mean about finding another dog just like Rusty. I have a cattle dog mix, Cheyenne, my little herder..she is cute, smart, and lovable. I am not really looking for the same personality, but I think his coat is gorgeous and the black on his face...very handsome dog.

All my pets are strays. Most of them found me. I have eight. Expensive, but worth it. Thanks for the input.

That dog looks exactly like my brother's dog who is a GSD X Chow mix. They could be twins!

okay. Someone that saw my dog in person said that he is a chow/German shepherd mix. Thank you for telling me this...
