Indoor dogs shed year-round, with extra at times of building new coat or hot weather or fever or antibiotics or surgical anesthesia. Intact female dogs shed with every heat cycle. Puppies shed as they go to their adult coats. There are many reasons for dog shedding cycles to be altered, and it is an endless subject of discussion on dog show lists.
