Puppy eye color

JazzysMomma Sep 20, 2006 10:52 AM

Hi everyone! I'm new to the message boards. I have a litter of eight babies, 10 days old. A few of them are just starting to open their eyes. This will be the first litter we've raised. I'm just curious as to when you can tell what color eyes the puppies will eventually have. One has "squinted" at me and her eyes appear to be dark brown. Will they start out brown and then turn blue, or will they be blue right from the start, or if they're brown now, will they stay brown?.

I could be wrong but in most cases brown eyes from the beginning should indicate brown eyes as adults, where as blue eyes can turn brown later on. Any updated info on the pups? Congrats on the litter.
