Skin problem?????

acgoring Sep 21, 2006 09:48 PM

Hi,
M
y 4 mo. old Sibe is losing hair on his hind leg, on the inside. He's licking and biting at it, but the skin doesn't even appear to be affected… any suggestions?

I live in a high humidity climate in Taiwan, and I've heard of some cats getting skin problems from this...

thank you

Hi! Welcome to the Sibe forum... not sure we have ever had a member from Taiwan before, this quite unique. As for your Sibe it sounds like he could be having an allergic reaction to either something in the environment or possibly a food type allergy. How long has he been living with you? He should also be getting a high quality puppy food until he is at least a year old. I'm not sure what foods and such are available to you like here in the states. You could always post some information on what is available there and we can help you out.

We have had him for about 2.5 months now. He is 4 mo. old. At first we were feeding him what the pet store gave us, and he was having loose poos, so we bucked up and got him imported Eukaneuba Large Breed puppy food, which fixed the poo problem. It has been just find so far... This hairless patch just started a couple weeks ago.
All varieties of food are available, just a little more expensive.
Thanks!

It seems to work on furry animals with skin problems, usually a nutritional problem.
I feed raw diet almost exclusively, when the dry is gone, its never coming back.
I use chicken backs (raw), turkey necks, chicken necks, about once a week organ meat, a few dollars of fresh greens and veggies ran through a processor for a few minutes to liquify them, I freeze whats not being fed that night and feed 1-2 tablespoons a night. If interested in the raw diet which gets rid of all nutritional problems in dogs read Dr Ian Billinghursts book "Give your dog a bone".
I also use a complete ground raw diet added to that which has kelp, and I add salmon oil (a teaspoon a day) or feed a few raw fish a week.
I hope the brewers yeast helps. Could it be a problem with the heat and humidity, fungus, Im not sure.
