Hey, my name is Nivedh. I have just recently become the proud owner of my first Siberian Husky!!!! I absolutely love the dog. Would not want another breed if you paid me. Anyway my question; my dog (Spawn) is 14 weeks old now. And I was wondering how I could get him to howl. I dont really care to have him howl on command. But I would like to know if there is anything I can do to provoke him to do it. I often see on videos the owners howling in the backround and this does not work. He simply looks at me like I am stupid. I have tried downloading audio clips of huskies howling to see if this provoked him, but alas nothing. I would really appreciate some advice because this was one of the original reasons I got a husky, because they howl. I love to hear them howl. So if anybody could help a new husky owner I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

My two year old husky "sings" with me. I'll howl and he will just join in the fun. I've downloaded howling wolves, and he will howl with them as well. Your husky is still very young, give him some time and he should develop the pack mentality and howl with you. Oh, and by the way, the howling you get from huskies isnt exactly like a howl you see on tv from wolves, its more of a "roooooo"

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I do know that its more of a roooooooo sound. I remember about 4 weeks ago (I have had my guy for 8 weeks) we were in my garage taking out the trash and we noticed it was a full moon. My brother and I were talking about how cool it would be for Spawn to howl under a full moon. Well my mom comes out of the house and Spawn comes running out after her. As we are going back inside after letting him do his business, he stops at the front of the garage looks out to the street, then looks back at us and lets one rip. He was still a baby obviously so it was not a real strong howl but you could tell it was a howl. It was so freaking cool. He then promtly came inside ran over to the kitchen island and did it again. We tried to howl with him to keep him going, and he promptly gave us the "why are yall howling, yall look stupid look." it was real cool. Man am I going on. Thanks for the advice though I will post if I get him to do it eventually.

My 5 mo old was howling a few months ago, while 'singing' along with a squeaky toy. Quite humorous.
I've just learned exactly what I have to say to get him to howl with me though. Apparently it's specific!!... I just howl making the sound "Yaaaaaa,,, Yaooooo, Yaaaa, Yaoooo" Great fun.
