incontinence in puppie

I have a 5 month old female doberman who has urine incontinence.
I believe she has always had it. At first we thought she was just having accidents all the time when she was sleeping but then one day we actually wached the urine drip while she was sleeping. It's like a dripping faucet. It always happens when she is lying down. She dosn't have accidents in the house and will let you know if she needs to go out. The vet says we should be able to controll it with medication but that if we have her spayed the problem might get worse. Does anyone know anything about this kind of problem? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like time to have her evaluated for a malformation. These happen a fair amount of the time, and can be surgically fixed. I would wait until after one heat cycle to spay, too.
