HELP-licking fur off leg

Hi,

I have a 4 year old longhair chihuahua who has recently started licking the hair off of his right front leg. I am not sure what to makeof this? Why he is doing it? How to make him stop? There are no sores on his leg just missing fur.

If there is missing fur, he needs to see a veterinarian, possibly a veterinary dermatology specialist. Various things could cause this, including fleas, a bone or joint problem, an injury (including a needle used for an IV) or other.

In addition to the possibilities Kathy mentioned, another possibility is that your dog has developed allergies.
