Potty training frustration

Kaseys412 Oct 30, 2006 08:21 AM

Maybe I am expecting too much of her too soon.. I dont know. She is 11 weeks old but she just is not getting the point! I am beginning to crate train her fully... I dont know if its mean to keep her in the crate all the time I feel bad doing it but I mean even if I take her out and bring her back in.. she will pee on the floor twenty minutes later, and she knows its wrong because then when she gets caught doing it she runs and hides trailing the pee all over! I guess for the next few weeks she is going to be in the crate a whole lot until she gets the hang of this. I know she isn't stupid, her breeder said when she was 8 weeks she would go outside a majority of the time and I witnessed it when I was there to pick her up, she went outside and did her business, then came back to the door. I think she might be rebelling.. or she really doesnt understand yet.. She is just under 3 months old so I am really hoping to have this done before she is 4 months. I am so frustrated because I want her to run around and play and I just hate scolding her when I catch her and she is beginning to rebel against me because of it. How do I let her know that I am her master? and how long should she be left out of the crate at a time?

You've got a lot of questions here, and not a very good routine going with the dog. Read the articles under Housetraining at the link below my signature here for full instructions on how to housetrain a dog. It is a veterinary education site, they do not require you to register or subscribe, and there is no charge whatsoever.
