I have a 8 year old male norwegian elkhound who is currently being treatd bya holistic vet for low thyroid (taking .8 soloxine and 4 natural thyroid) and IBD. We've had only moderate success on stopping the diarrhea. He can not eat any kibble or will have bloody stool, he wouldn't eat raw and when he did he also had bloody stool. So now he's eating cooked chicken and oatmeal. In addition he's getting 4 mg of diarsanyl and 1-2 reaspoons of Nutrimin (edible clay. At this point he no longer has bloody stools and has an appetite most of the time but the stool range from occasionally normal, to pudding consistency and occasional watery stools. He was also treated initially for 3 months for helicobacter (last year) and several herbs for this and liver function were tried. Now that his thyroid is where it should be his blood tests don't show anything abnormal. Any other suggestions for treating this?
Thanks,
