Bladder Infection

Kaseys412 Nov 30, 2006 01:49 PM

I think Sophie's bladder infection has come back, due to the fact that after a week of no accidents she is all of a sudden peeing on the floor 3 times a day again and her urine has that smell to it. I am going to go see her Vet tomorrow, but I am curious to know if the infection coming back is common??

Has it only been a week since the vet cleared the infection? Most times they will run the antibiotic for few days longer just to be sure.

Almost 2 weeks.. but I called and they are going to put her on a stronger antibiotic beginning tomorrow. Hopefully this will take care of it!

Extremely common, yes. If this is a puppy and you able to keep her under top security during the time, I'd suggest one heat cycle before she is spayed. That might prevent a lot more of these in the future.

I didn't know that had anything to do with the bladder infections but thank you for the info! She is indoors with me unless we are walking so she is always supervised carefully, I would be able to keep her secure for a heat cycle no problem. She has just today started 250ml Ampicillin for 3 weeks to try to make sure it's gone this time, so I certainly hope this can take care of it.
