My boxer is more responsive to the commands I give her much more so than any other person, but when comes to who she follows around and wants to hang out with she prefers my wife. For instance if we watch tv in seperate rooms she always goes with my wife? It's no problem just curious as to why?

Hi,
I'm just guessing but perhaps you're wife is more inclined to give her little tid bits. 
Is she home during the day? If she is, that could be a reason also.

I'll agree with Mary Lou- she's probably getting some extras on the side or even just some "free" affection (not having to work for it by following commands).
Also, men typically have deeper voices that command authority, but that can scare and intimidate soft and/or sensitive dogs.
