Arthritis

teamGenji Dec 13, 2006 03:08 PM

One of our dogs has arthritis in her hips and back legs. She can still run and jump onto the sofa, bed and car without any difficulties, but I see slight stiffness in her movement, especially when it's getting cold here in New England.

I have read all the past posts regarding to joint/arthritis on this message board and decided to give her Longlife Suppulemnt and cod liver oil. Should I give her a teaspoon of cod liver oil at each meal or just once a day? She weighs about 75 lbs.

Give 1 tsp cod liver oil at each meal, along with one capsule of Longlife.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, Dr. Tobin.

Now we have another problem. This happened last night. When she jumped off the bed she hurt her front left leg. She doesn't want to put weight on the leg. She limps when she walks. When I touch the leg including her wrist, elbow and shoulder, she doesn't try to get away from me, and when my husband was getting ready to go to work this morning, she was kind of running to the door thinking that she might go for a ride, but I understand dogs are very stoic about pain and can mask it pretty well.

I'd like to take her to the vet but unfortunately don't have a ride today. I haven't given her aspirin or anything. I have Traumeel though. Can I give this to her?

Try her with the Traumeel. It doesn't seem like anything is broken.
