My original post is a couple down - two foster girls from spca. One, Emma, had diarhea yesterday but was eating and drinking and playful. Was in her kennel for 4 hours while I was at work and did not got to the bathroom. Ate last night. Did not go to the bathroom in her kennel overnight either. Today she is straining a little to pee and not much is coming out. She drank and then threw up her water. Then she had diarhea with some blood in it. I immediately thought Parvo. We phoned spca and they asked if we would keep her for the weekend because if she comes there and they don't know if it is parvo - it could spread to all the other dogs in the spca. My dogs all have their vaccinations up to date (got them 6 months ago). She did have some water and a little bit of food but does not seem to want to eat. She pooped in her kennel on the way back from the spca but it was alot more solid and no blood. She may have gotten into something else. We live in a smaller community and our vets are not open on the weekend. I did phone a vet that is an hour away and told her that before Emma left the spca she did receive her vaccinations. She said that this might not be parvo and just to keep an eye on her this weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts of what else this could be (i.e. stomach parasite other than parvo) and if I should worry about anything else with my own dogs? Emma is penned off in our heated shop so that she can go potty on paper for now. The other dog rescued and fostered with her is showing no signs of sickness at all. If anyone has any suggestions or comments I welcome them!
