Peeing Hound

FreedomDove Dec 29, 2006 11:21 AM

I adopted a walker/english fox hound about a month ago. She is 12 years old and not fixed. She had spent her whole life living with 100-200 other hounds. She was very thin, lame in one leg, and has cataracs. I got her from Red Rock Hounds in Reno, NV. When hounds live in a pack they usually do not go to the bathroom inside and where they have to sleep. I keep her in the bathroom at night. She pees in the bathroom. She pees in her bed and then sleeps in it. So the other night I put a trash bag over her bed. She chewed off the bag and chewed up her bed. So, last night I gave her no bed. Then she chewed the wood work around the door and was going crazy until I gave her a bed. And of course she peed in it and slept on it. I have 5 other dogs and have been able to train them. I am going to crate her tonight. But how do you train a dog to not pee at night if it pees where it has to sleep? PLEASE HELP...

Sounds like a very stressed dog. Do you have a dog that could crate with her- she may just miss her pack that much.

Other than that- she's been through a lot. Be patient and do your best.

Sorry- I can't be much more help than that.

Sounds like a medical problem.
