Wondering ( Perspective Owner )

My name is Tiffany. I'm 20 years old and live in Indiana with my mother, currently. I'm unemployed and don't go to college but I expect that to change soon. I know I'm going to get dogs once I get a job and get enough money to move out on my own. I'll also be going to college and voulenteering at a zoo or at Wolf Park here in indiana. That's why I was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to get dogs...I've always said that I'd have enough time for them with everything that I'm doing, and it isn't an option not to get at least one dog...It's impossible for me to go without having one.

That's why I was thinking that getting more than one dog would be a good idea, sort of like a mini-pack so no one dog will be bored or upset that I'm not at home when I can't be there. As for breeds in this mini-pack, I was thinking a Siberian Husky, Doberman Pinscher and a White German Shepherd dog. That's why I'm posting on this board, to get information on the WGS breed and to see if they'd work well with the other two. I also plan on posting on the other two forums. I was thinking of getting all the dogs from online sites...

Any thoughts, ideas, opinions on this idea? It's been with me for a long time. I'm thinking of getting all the dogs under two years of age, under a year if possible, two years max, though, so that they can get used to the other dogs. Along the road I also want a cat, rats, a snake and ferrets, but I plan on keeping all the animals apart unless I know they can be together.

Before getting all these dogs, please figure out a budget and make sure that you are able to afford good food for them. Also.. Sophie alone has cost me over $200 at the vet's office getting her puppy shots and she hasn't even been spayed yet.. you're probably looking at hundreds of dollars in shots, and another large amount for spay/neuter. Just because there are more than one dog may not eliminate separation anxiety, can you provide obedience classes for two or three dogs? They aren't cheap. I think it's great that you love dogs, but they are a very long term commitment, begin with one so you know you can provide the best care. Do so, after you have established a steady place to live where you wont have to move in six months and get rid of the dog either. I found my breeder on the web too, but regardless you should check out the place before you make a commitment to buy. Make sure the dogs are healthy, and very well cared for. Meet the parents because their temperments are important. Please whatever you do, don't buy a puppy from a pet store. As for white german shepherds... shepherds in general are busy dogs and need something to do. Be prepared to spend a lot of time walking, obedience classes, etc. Good luck!
