T-Rex Snake Steak Sausages

AbsoluteRae Oct 10, 2003 02:42 AM

Ok, I've been trying to find on-line dealers of this product to do some comparison shopping but I've not had much success. Does anyone know where to find these sausages? Also, does anyone use them? I've heard good reviews and it seems like they might even be better for the snake, but my biggest problem is that I can't find a price on them!! Thanks for everything.

Yes, I have almost no patience. But cut me some slack, I just got off a shift...

If you can find them, they are't cheap. Anywhere. (paying upwards of .50 ea (pinkie size) even in a 100 pack) If you can feed mice, feed mice.

Okay. I'm going to be painfully direct.

Do you, or does anyone else for that matter actually know what is in those things? Basically it's animal byproducts with a very high ratio of fats and organ meat. They are, by most accounts, too rich for snakes. Also, I hear that it makes their poop really nasty smelling and runny. Eew!

Several people have tried to pin down the makers about the exact ingredients, and they are evasive. Sounds like mice are just a better option. Cheaper, easier to find, and most likely healthier.

This is just my two cents. I know that, a couple years ago, KJ had something to say about it, not much of it positive.

>>Okay. I'm going to be painfully direct.

The amount of calcium alone bothers be for a growing snake. All I could get from the producers is that it has "enough calcium." I asked what theat means, and they were like "you know, enough. I promise."

Yeah, right. I don't agree with that for sure. My best suggestion, if you must use these, are to alternate then with good healthy rodents....if your snake will even continually maintain them. The feces all look like it came from a sick snake when they feed on thiose, though: wet, smelly, moist, etc. So, that idicator will not help you make sure your snake is still healthy.

We'll sell help get snakes on those for others (and customers) - but we strongly urge against it - as long as it is a snake they don't plan to breed, brumate, etc.. Any problems with it will be worse in an animal subjected to those stresses. Try calling T-Rex and asking about a local distributor in your area. That's the only way I've evenr found any when I was experimenting with them.
