Doggie Steps for my Doxie

bsworkman Jan 09, 2007 01:34 PM

I've seen the steps you can buy for your dog to help them get onto the couch or bed but even those, I don't think would be good enough for a Dachshund because their legs are much shorter than the average small dog. My husband was thinking about making her a set of steps where the steps are shorter than the ones you can buy. Any suggestions or has anyone made any themself?

Some Dachshunds should not be climbing steps. Having a bad knee myself, I've come to realize that ramps are much easier on the joints than steps. My dogs (big dogs) have a PetstepII ramp. I've had it a couple of years now, and it's been great.

I'd suggest a ramp. There are many kinds out there. Here's just one of them:

I built ramps for my guys. Pretty easy to do and they turned out as nice as any on the internet.
