8 month old chocolate lab grabs

claire07 Jan 18, 2007 06:07 PM

Hi, this is my first time posting a message. I have a 8 month old female chocolate lab. I love her to pieces, but she has started grabing my sleeve and pulling on it and won't let go. We will be playing with her toy and then she just grabs my clothing and pulls. I have to use my other hand to hold the piece of clothing so she doesn't tear it off of me or put holes in it, and then I can't grab her mouth to release it. She is not gowling or being mean, I think she's just playing. I really don't like this type of behavior and I don't know how to stop her from doing it. I'm the only person in the family that she does this to. Any suggestions would be great.

ANSWER:

The Puppy Biting and the Retrieving in Play articles at the link below my signature should help. Also read Tug-of-War at the same link. You may need to change how you use the toy with the dog. I also have an article Toys as Tools for Dogs there. The site is a free educational site and you are not asked to register to use it.
