Hard lump in thyroid area

fiveliter8 Jan 20, 2007 12:21 AM

Hi all. Our 3 yr old English Springer had a large lump in her neck that suddenly appeared. It starts about where the back of her jaw-line is and follows her neck (about 4cm in size, feels like an egg). The vet did a fine needle aspiration, and it came back neg. for cancer and infection. She was put on antibiotics, and it did eventually go away. It suddenly reappeared a couple of days ago. They did say it's probably her thyroid, but said it could be salivary too. It's only on one side. Anyone ever experience this? Our vet has thrown their hands up on this one. Also, noticed a hard lump on her back near her hip that feels like it's in the muscle, which also appeared suddenly.

Ask your vet to refer you to the appropriate specialist. That might be an internal medicine specialist.
