Digestion

Hello all,

I would like some advice on something. Winston (My German Shorthaired Pointer) doesn't seem to be digesting his food very well...I gave him some peas (cooked frozen peas) with his breakfast yesterday and they came right out...WHOLE. And if the peas came out how much nutrients is he getting from anything else? Is there something out there (either supplement or a natural raw food) that you know of that might help this? Perferably resonably priced, and easy to get ahold of.

I have heard that unlike our digestion "A dog's digestion begins in his stomach" this meaning that they don't have to chew there food very much. If he can't digest soft peas what about the dog food he never chews? In the wild dogs normally do not chew there food they rip it off and swallow.

Just looking for some answers thanks.

Since dogs don't chew their food, they don't digest vegetables very efficiently. When it comes to cooked vegetables, you can mash or puree them. If you feed raw vegetables, it is best to juice them and to give both the juice and the pulp. To aid with digestion of carbohydrates or proteins, you can add a digestive enzyme combination to the dog's food.
