Winter nose/Snow Nose

sfemz Feb 07, 2007 08:57 PM

I have a West Highland White Terrier. In the last couple of weeks I noticed that her normally shiny black nose was fading and had a brownish tint. I did an Internet search and discovered what is called Winter Nose or Snow Nose. Are you familiar with this? I believe it is due to the lack of sunlight during winter months and perhaps a vitamin deficiency. Which vitamins or supplements and in what amounts would I need to give to a 16 pound Westie?

The one vitamin that is associated with winter and a dearth of sunlight is Vitamin D.
A dose of 400 iu for a Westie should do fine. However, I don't know if this is the cause of the fading nose.
