Chi aggression

sealedwithakiss Feb 09, 2007 05:59 PM

Hello, I am new here and already love all the info I have read about chihuahua's. My question is....I have a female, medium haired chi and she can get very grumpy with children. She is very good with my 3 boys, ages 9,5 and 2. It is certain kids that come to the house. Some she likes and is nice to and will play with them and other kids she growles, runs from and even nips at. Why is she doing this and how can I get her to stop nipping at the very least, as I have started babysitting a little girl that is 18 months old and my chi (Teika) doesn't like her. Please help.

With those little kids around, if you are going to keep the dog, you need the help of a veterinary behavior specialist in person. Take the dog to your veterinarian for a complete checkup and ask for a referral to a veterinary behavior specialist.

Read the following articles at the link below my name for more of what is possibly going on here:

Since the dog has behaved aggressively toward children, if any get hurt, your liability will be very high. It will be especially high if the dog injures a child you're being paid to care for. And if their own child is injured, people can be charged with child endangerment.
