peeing in strange house

queenshann1 Feb 19, 2007 12:15 PM

My dog is a 1 1/2 year old spayed lab mix that I've had for 6 months. She was mostly housebroken when I got her, and hasn't had an accident in my house in at least 2 months. Recently we've been spending the night at my boyfriend's house a few times a week and she has been peeing in his bedroom at night. I take her out before bed, and it's always a small amount of pee, so it's not an issue of being able to hold it, so I don't understand what the problem is, and really don't know how to fix it. When we're at home she sleeps in my room on the floor, and it's the same at his house. He has a dog too, and they get along very well. She does it only at night while we're sleeping so I'm not even sure it's my dog, not his that's doing it. Is my dog trying to claim space in his house? How can I stop it? Please help us!

Dogs do urinate to claim territory so if you have two dogs in a home, there may be "peeing wars" going on. You need to clean up the spots INCREDIBLY well with an enzyme cleaner or this problem will continue and both dogs are probably involved.
