Her husband is very happy with all the people visiting, sending cards, etc... has no problem with everyone knowing... in fact glad.
I have waited to post until things were more certain... but here is the story in a nutshell.
Kathy was feeling sick (Sinus infection) but, as usual, refusing to go to the doctor and simply flushing and waiting it out. Husband had to go on business trip. Talked to her Monday night, feeling worse but wouldn't consider doctor. Tues. am still worse. Tues. eve he got message that if he called and she didn't answer, not to worry as her ears were so stopped up she couldn't hear the phone.
Wed am couldn't get answer but wasn't worried. LUCKILY even though his flight was delayed nearly 2 hours, he wasn't on one that got canceled. Got home almost midnight Wed night to find Kathy in a coma.
Thurs. early the doctor told him they were going to test for ANY brain function (pupils were not responding to light, no response to pain) but they were not hopeful of her surviving. They put her on massive steroids for brain swelling (Bacterial meningitis) and several IV antibiotics, breathing tube, feeding tube, etc.
Friday however she began opening her eyes a little though still totally nonresponsive. Saturday she had them open much more though still not really responsive, but her husband was MUCH happier as the danger of her dying was at least passing. When we talked Sunday he was very tired, frustrated as they had done testing but the machinery was new and going to have to wait for neurologist to actually read them on Monday.
But YESTERDAY remarkable improvement! She responded to instructions to turn eyes and look, she began talking (even if most not coherent), told her husband she loves him, asked where he had been (dinner), and was able to move one side a lot and the left side at least limited. It is going to be a LONG road, so please send your prayers.
She is in CCU so can't get flowers right now, but any one wanting to send cards the address is below. I KNOW that an outpouring of love and prayers and care will help her.
