MyDiamond Feb 22, 2007 04:20 PM

Is there anyway to tell the age of a dog?

Most experienced vets can usually give a good estimate of a dog's age by examining the teeth of the dog. But this is only a best guess and not an exact science. For puppies they can tell by the growth of the new teeth and for older dogs they can tell by the wear and health of the teeth but there are several factors that can throw this off as well.

Thanks...he grinds his teeth so I don't know if they'd be able to tell by the teeth, but you never know. I am thinking of maybe bring him in the the vet's just for a exam so maybe I will mention it then.

Your vet should be able to come up with a good guess.
