My 3 year old Pomeranian vomiting

adorable Feb 24, 2007 09:12 PM

It's been now 24 hours and my pomeranian has been vomiting. I feed him Iams and things seemed OK but yesterday, I noticed he's been throwing up two or so hours after eating. The stuff looked foamy but you can see the food. I took him off the food and started bgiving him a little rice. The first helping of rice seemed to stay in his system. After the third rice feeding, I thought all was well but I saw two little piles of rice under an end table so I'm asuming he threw up his lunch and dinner helpings. The rice looked as though it had not been digested. He ate it so fast, I wonder what it can be. Each servinh=g had two teaspoons of rice.
Can anyone give me any ideas of what I can do? It is going to be sunday so I wonder what I can do till my vet opens on monday or if anyone can tell me what it can be.
A week ago, I gave him s few little pieces of string beans and he loved them. I gave him at another ocasion, a few little pieces of brocoli. He ate a tsp of yogurt last week and 1 tsp cottage cheese five days ago.
Is this the cause?
Thanks

I know your dog is small, but not haivng him eat anythignfor maybe 12 hours and then slowily introsucing back the rice and chicken may help. Then rice, shicken and maybe some canned pumpkin may help out. After 24 to 48 hours on the bland meal, then you can slowly add the regular food back into the diet. It may take another 48 hours to get back to the regular diet.

Do you know what caused the upset stomach in the first place? I have found that food allergies caused this behavior in my dog.
