Puppy holding urine

k9lover Mar 01, 2007 07:02 PM

I have a 9 month old puppy and I am concerned with the fact that she doesn't seem to have to urinate as much in the last few weeks as she did previously. I am also concerned because she has been eating alot of snow and ice and there has been some salt mixed in the snow. Before this she would urinate for the last time about 9:00 pm and then again in the morning about 6:30 am. She always needed to go out right away. Now, it seems as though she has no need to urinate in the am until about 10:00. I have also noticed that she has been more tired in the evenings. My question is: Do I have a reason to be concerned or is this a normal pattern? Thank you for your time!

Frequent or excessive urination could be a cause for concern, but less urine or urination is not, as long as the dog is acting normally and shows no signs of dehydration.

Thank you Dr. Tobin for your reply! I can now relax and not worry so much. This morning she was back to her usual potty schedule. I was very relieved!
