Hi and welcome to the DogHobbyist! Congrats on your new APBT. There are times when people come and go through some of the forums and some aren't as active as the others but eventually questions will be answered. Hopefully if people see some activity going on here this board can become a more active one. In the meantime maybe you can tell us how you came to adopt your dog.

I have been looking for a pit bull for the last four months. i have seen many photos and heard a lot of pits stories. I just didn't have the money to get a pet deposit for a dog yet. It cost 500 dollars to have a dog in my apartment building. I had fallen for several different pits in the Shelters during this time (I love petfinder!). I was looking for a puppy so I could train it myself. When the time finally came to go look for one, I put up an add on Craigslist as the Shelter had no more young pit bulls. My add was answered by a middle aged woman who stated that her son had brought home this cute six week old pit bull puppy and she didn't want it in the house. I made an arrangement to go see the dog. The drive took about a solid hour, and it was night time when I got there. Sasha was not a 6 week old puppy but a almost six month old puppy. When I saw how she reacted to the family that had her for a week, she was a total wiggle butt and was very loving to the kids there. I have a five year old and needed to make sure the dog would get along. Sasha was very wary of me however. She was studying me as closely as I was studying her. She was afraid of me, and kept her distance the whole time. I reached out to offer my hand and she shot away. This is when I decided to take the dog. I felt like I needed to help her and the current situation she was in would have landed her in the pound. Her eyes reflected a lot of soul, and I knew that I had found the dog for my family. I have always loved the pit bull breed, my last dog Harley who still lives with my parents is around 12 years old and has severe arthritus. I loved her spirit and at the age of 13 I decided that I would have another dog like her in my life at a later point in time. That's how we got her. The boy that we took her from got the dog because his friends dad was going to kill it.

Awwww, so glad you were able to find the right pup for you and your family. I wish you the very best with Sasha and hope you'll be able to come back and tell us how Sasha and the family are doing.

Welcome!

You will learn that pit bulls have so much love for their owners, because they know the hell their owners go thru!

From the sounds of it, Sasha could use some MAJOR socialization. Try to get her out and about as much as possible. The fearfulness would be a big concern. But getting her out there is a GOOD thing. Sounds like she didnt have a lot of early on socialization.

So, where are the pics?
