Nature's Variety for yorkie?

abbey_road3012 Apr 02, 2007 02:11 PM

I have a 6 month old yorkie who is currently eating Nature's Variety venison meal and millet kibble and a mix of different kinds of canned foods (Innova Evo, Nature's Variety, and Merrick). As soon as he runs out of the cans we're planning on switching him to a mixture of Nature's Variety frozen raw and the kibble (we're going to rotate between the different kinds for variety). I know whole bones are best, but as a vegetarian I draw the line there. I used to feed all my dogs a raw diet with whole bones and I just couldn't keep cleaning that up... ick. I think this frozen raw diet plus tooth brushing is the next best thing... what do you think? Is it going to be good for a small breed dog? Thanks.

It is better than nothing, but not as good as real bones. lAfter a couple of hours gnawing at a raw bone, most dogs will have cleaned the fat, meat and gristle from the bone, but they will continue working at it for at least another week, so if the dog is confined with the bone for a couple of hours, there will be nothing left to clean up.
