Today at the dog park my older husky was a bit rough playing with someones "King Shepard", they about had a heart attack because they thought Duke would traumatize this overpriced guard dog and turn it into a shy wuss I guess. It was more or less a confrontation with him setting boundaries with the other dog. None the less my little husky mix puppy plays alot rougher with Duke than they could even imagine, it sure has never caused any problems with Koda, any puppy, or any other dog that plays with Duke. I guess they dont have much experience with dogparks or many other dogs.
None the less I found out that their shepard was not fixed (ah ha, so there was why all of the male dogs in sight were so rough with it), later on they returned as we were leaving for the evening, only to have a 25 lb terrier play even rougher with their dog (I wonder if they got worried then).
My wife was so upset at the the situation, she could not understand why anyone could consider Duke a bully, or why they would think that Duke would traumatize another dog or hurt them.
I go to another dog park on occasion with a friend, that one unlike this one allows unfixed dogs to be in the park, but they have a problem with fights involving unfixed dogs. This park we frequent most of the time does not allow unfixed dogs (the old park at the old location allowed them, there were alot of fights, so when this much bigger park was constructed a new rule was added "no unfixed dogs allowed"
. Of course a few owners either do not read the rules or disregard them all together.
Oh well we are going back tomorrow, I hope they come back and read the rules this time or let their dog be a dog and play after it gets fixed.
