The only real difference is size.
Well first let me correct.
Johnson (Also refered to as Bully) is the excessively bulldog looking dog. Large in size with males easily topping 100 lbs. Females tend to be smaller.
Johnson

Scott (also called Standard or Preformance) is the more compact version. Males usually top out around the upper 60s low 70s with females once again being smaller.
Scott (poor picture, but you see the head difference)

Now hybrid is just what that means. A mix of johnson and scott bulldogs. They tend to be less bully in the face structure and tend to have less problems with their soft palette. However they also tend to be larger in build. Average males tend to run around 85.
My Brutus is a Hybrid or Johnson/Scott Cross.
If you are looking pet wise, any bully will do. Check rescues, especially pit bull rescues. The group I work with usually has at LEAST 3 ABs in or waiting to come in. All ages. Puppy to adult.
And here is a pic of the Brutus.
Just because I like to show off.

Johnson are usually bigger dogs with Shorter muzzles and bigger boned. But Johnson infused English Bulldog in his line. Where Pit bulls was infused in Scott- Painter dogs and they was smaller bone. Most of the AB's foundation dogs were small. Like Sand Man the Great. And then you have The old Southern Whites or White English. That's another thread...
