What breed is my dog?

We have a new puppy & don't know what it is for sure. He came from the animal shelter. He's 13 wks old, 20 lbs & a beautiful brindel color. He's suppose to be boxer & ???. I've done some researched & his nose, muzzle, brindel markings, build, loose skin & size @ 13 weeks are nothing like a Boxer & more like the brindel Mastiff I've seen here. See pictures included. Thanks for your help & any suggestions or thoughts on our Maxie!

Congratulations on your puppy. I don't know too much about the Boxer but he sure looks like he has some Boxer in him. I love his markings. Good luck with him and hope we'll be hearing more about him. BTW, what did you name him?

I too am seeing mastiff or great dane in there. I don't see boxer, although there are some brindle boxers out there. The grey comign through has me thrown off a bit as well. He's cute whatever he really is!

I thought I saw some great dane as well but wasn't sure.

He has different shades of tan background & the black stripes/lines or whatever you call them. I don't see any gray/silver on him.

i would guess great dane/pitbull

His markings are exactly like that of a light brindle english mastiff. Boxers don't come in that color, they are a more red/chocolate brindle if I am correct. I have seen some pitbulls with those markings, and that would make more sense based on his size. A mastiff pup would be much larger by then, and pitbulls are much more common than mastiffs. A lot of the mixies I know are part pit or part lab or both. It is a shame they are so overbred.
If your puppy was pitbull/mastiff mix, it would probably have been sold as some sort of protection dog instead of being surrendered to a shelter.

I guess pitbull shepherd mix.
