Dear Dr. Tobin,
It's been a couple of years since I've posted here, but I've browsed from time to time. Happy to see you're still at it.
My 14yr old dog, Roly (whom you once helped me cure of Lymes Disease for which I'm grateful every day), developed a Lypoma, on the right, front side of his chest, during his middle years. The vet had advised that it wasn't threatening, but if it should begin to interfere with movement, I might want to consider having it removed. Only recently, maybe a few mths ago, has it begun to interfere w/movement of his right leg. He has to make an effort to "throw" the leg around it, or else he can lose his footing. At his age I worry about any procedures involving anesthesia -as well as- any disability which might cause him injury.
More recently, we've moved from Canaan CT, to Dedham MA, and our new vet did not think it posed a threat either. -outside of interfering w/movement. (I've recently read of cases where a lypoma can invade the chest cavity -so I worry about that, too.)
I plan to consult both my old & new vet about having it removed, or reduced. But I wanted to see if you had any alternative thoughts, or possible warnings, that I should heed.
We thank you, in advance, for your consideration.
-Rhea & Roly
