JRT pees when excited

MoonDragon1 May 18, 2007 12:53 AM

Hello!
I've got a three year old Jack Russell who pees whenever I go to clip the leash on him to take him outside. Not a little, but he'll fully lift his leg and release his entire bladder with his leash on, standing in front of the door. If I manage to get him to stop after a squirt, he'll go outside and sniff around for a long time before he goes, so it's not a full bladder/urgency issue.

I am at my wit's end. Any suggestions? Please?

Hi,
Is this something he started to do recently? If so, you might want to have him checked out by a vet. If not, perhaps you can take him out more frequently. If that's not possible, hide the leash until you get outside. It sounds like he's getting so excited to go outside, that it's difficult for him to hold it. Perhaps others may have some suggestions for you as well. Let us know how the little guy is doing.
