I've been wanting a wolfdog for about 3 years now (no lie), I've been given two books to read (living with wolfdogs and wolfdogs A-Z, good books) and I'm really wanting one.
I was talking with a breeder a few years back but ended up not being about to own on due to parents changing mind.
Anyone ever heard of Southern Breeze?
So far it looks like I'm going to be moving to central FL in November and getting an apartment with a friend of mine, we've agreed on pets and stuff already. I work only 5days a week, 4-6 hrs a day.
Last time I checked, FL state law is 74% wolf and under no permit needed.

Hi! It's great to see that you are doing your research and homework. I also notice that you have posted in three dog forums. That leaves me to believe that you are really unsure of what kind of large breed dog you are wanting to obtain. My suggestion would be to pick one, do all of the reading and research and go from there. If that falls through then try again with another breed. You wouldn't want to get a pup and then regret the decision by saying... I should have gotten this one or that one. Good Luck with your search.

Wolfdog, Pharaoh hound, and Dobies are three breeds of canine that I love. If I could I'd own all three. But since I've never had any first hand experience with any of these and am most likely going to getting an apartment with a roommate, I'm asking people about there experiences are with these breeds.
I'm pretty much compiling a list of pros and cons of the three to see which works best for me.
And i don't work long hours and have practically no social life (sad but true), with no small children.

I think those with wolf dogs are going to really recommend against getting one in your situation. An apartment is absolutely no place for a wolf mix. They need acess to outdoors much more than the other breeds you mentioned and a simple walk on a leash isn't going to cut it.

It's wonderful that you are doing research now. That will be a huge benefit once November rolls around. I think though that this possibility should be taken off your list for now. In the future when you have a home of your own with facilities that can handle this type of dog, and a mentor to guide you, you will have a lot more success. Raising a wolf dog from a puppy is not a guarantee everything will work out. It takes a lot of work, more work than the average person is able to do.
