Shedding (Yes I Know It Happens)

iam7617115 Jun 13, 2007 03:37 AM

Cleo is almost two years old and just recently she is shedding in a MASS amount like unseen before. I was just wondering if anyone also experience this? I mean of course she sheds thats just what huskies do but in the last week or so she sheds sooooo much that i'll brush her in the morning and at the end of the day when i get back from work she just has hair falling out. Has this happened to anyone else?

My dogs do seem to shed more in spring into the summer months, but that shedding does seem extreme. Any bare spots showing up? Have you check with your vet?

No Bare spots i got her groomed and she looks fine now maybe it was just a lot of shedding going into the summer. Thanks though.

My dog is one... He just started shedding like CRAZY a couple weeks ago.... molting is more accurate. The spots where he's already shed are very nice, with much less undercoat coming in. I'm hoping he'll stay like that so he won't be too hot here in Taiwan during the summer....

Like my breed the Shiba Inu the Sibe is a doublecoated breed with a thick lush undercoat and coarse outercoat. They will shed heavily... a coat blow... twice a year in the Spring and Fall. Of course it seems like mine shed year round. It's amazing the amount of undercoat there is to these breeds and just when you think you have it all combed out you notice a few more tufts showing through. Once the undercoat is gone it leaves the dog very sleek looking.
