Perhaps an extended play time just before kenneling at night or a long walk. A tired dog is a good dog. If you would normally take a walk when you get home in the evening try moving it back later to tire out just before bed.

Do you normally get up weekdays for work around that time? she may be adjusting to that as well. Dogs get very routine oriented and tend to work on the prevailing schedule.

A dog that wants to be up with the sun- that's a tough one to deal with. With my dogs, I let them out without much fuss and went back to bed ignoring their taunts to play. It's tough ignoring a puppy, but it's the only way that worked for me.

When you put her in the crate... how long is she in there for? I'm assuming she goes in the crate when you go to bed? It could be she may need a potty break at that time. Even at 5 months her bladder is still rather small.
